    Overview

    Keller is the leading design-build geotechnical construction contractor group in North America with over $1.5 B in annual revenue. We seek a Strategic Buyer for the Western region of Keller.  The successful candidate will possess advanced skills to drive sourcing and best price/value strategies with an established team of project and operational managers. This position is a new role and will be located in El Cajon, CA.

    Responsibilities

    The Strategic Buyer reports directly to the Senior Vice President of the Western Region and matrix reports to the Vice President of Keller Procurement. This position is expected to drive procurement best practices and develop and execute total cost savings strategies across the western region, and after some time, impact other Keller Business Units in the region as well. The Strategic Buyer will be expected to collaborate, shape, and stay aligned to Keller’s overall Procurement roadmap. Key engineering and construction spend categories include Indirect/MRO, construction materials (steel, cement/aggregate/grout, slurry), and services (equipment rentals, freight, subcontract labor).

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Drive sourcing best practices including leveraging spend from both Keller and other BU Procurement efforts and identifying other approaches to reduce total cost and enhance value.
    2. Serve as key procurement resource to Project Managers for large customer bid projects. This includes conducting competitive RFPs where warranted and managing both suppliers and internal stakeholders per a defined process.
    3. Work with Keller Procurement to develop procurement standard operating procedures and procurement compliance in all aspects of the procure to pay process.
    4. Serve as central point of contact and collaborator for the Western region with Keller Procurement on sourcing initiatives such as training or improvements to our ERP system.

    Qualifications

    Required Skills and Experience

    1. Bachelor's Degree in Construction/Civil Engineering related field, Business, or Supply Chain. Significant knowledge of the construction industry is needed.
    2. 5+ years of experience in Procurement, Materials/Purchasing or Supply Chain processes especially if it relates to the construction and engineering industry. Development and implementation of Procurement category strategies across a de-centralized company is preferred.
    3. Self-starter with ability to communicate and influence both senior leadership and project managers and support staff and deliver proven results.
    4. Knowledge of and ability to teach procurement policies and best practices to non-procurement professionals within the construction industry.
    5. Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects, driving results independently and as part of a team.
