    Keller is the leading design-build geotechnical construction contractor group in North America with over $1.5 B in annual revenue. We seek a Strategic Buyer for the Southeast region of Keller.  The successful candidate will possess advanced skills to drive sourcing and best price/value strategies with an established team of project and operational managers. This position is a new role and will be located in Alpharetta, GA. Other Southern locations will be considered for an exceptional candidate.



    Position Summary
    This position is expected to drive procurement best practices while developing and executing total cost savings strategies across the southeast region.  The Strategic Buyer will be expected to collaborate, shape, and stay aligned to Keller’s overall Procurement roadmap. Key engineering and construction spend categories include Indirect/MRO, construction materials [construction steel (bar / beams), bulk materials (cement/aggregate), and support service items (equipment rentals, freight, subcontract labor).


    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Drive sourcing best practices including leveraging spend between the Keller companies and the constituent Business Units’ procurement efforts including identifying other approaches to reduce total cost and create value add.
    2. Serve as key procurement resource to Project Managers for large customer bid projects. This includes conducting competitive RFPs where warranted and managing both suppliers and internal stakeholders per a defined process to find competitive advantage where possible.
    3. Work with the Keller Procurement team and Keller Business Units to develop effective procurement standard operating procedures and correct compliance gaps in the source to pay procurement process.
    4. Serve as central point of contact and collaborator for the Southeast with Keller Procurement on sourcing initiatives such as training or improvements to our ERP system.
    5. Potentially serve as a category manager for Keller for spend areas not currently being supported by Keller Procurement at a North American level.


     Required Skills and Experience

    1. Bachelor's Degree in Construction/Civil related field, Business, or Supply Chain. Significant knowledge of the construction industry is needed.
    2. 5+ years of experience in Procurement, Materials/Purchasing or Supply Chain processes especially if it relates to the construction and engineering industry. Development and implementation of Procurement category strategies across a de-centralized company is preferred.
    3. Self-starter with solid communication skills to influence both leadership and support staff. Successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of results.
    4. Knowledge of and ability to teach procurement policies and best practices to non-procurement professionals within the construction industry.
    5. Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects, driving results independently and as part of a team.
    6. Analytical with solid proficiency in Excel. Knowledge of procure to pay systems, processes, and associated ERPs (Microsoft Dynamics AX) preferred.
    7. CPSM, CPM or equivalent certificates preferred that help demonstrate proficiency in Procurement and Strategic Sourcing.
    8. Some travel required.
